We are so excited about the direction God is leading Faithwalking. The past two years have been a season of significant transition and learning for us. What has grown out of that is amazing, and we can’t wait to share more about our journey with you.
After years of great work, constant growth, and continuous learning since the beginning of the Faithwalking process in 2007, and all the recent transition, we find ourselves in an exciting place of expansion and we invite you to join us in it!
We believe that God’s intended design is for wholeness in individuals, communities, and the world. We believe that God’s hope is for shalom to be present, which includes peace, unity, completeness, wholeness, and well-being for everyone and in everyone. God’s hope is for the Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.
But we live in a world of brokenness. People are chronically anxious and reactive, internally conflicted, frequently unloving, and regularly unconcerned about the common good. Many Christians are inconsistent in following the way of Jesus.
For wholeness to be possible we must learn to love God, love self, love our neighbor, love the stranger, and love the world. We are committed to making wholeness possible for individuals, communities, and the world.
We have been striving to do this since Faithwalking began in 2007 and have been awestruck by how God has used this ministry to do just that. There are countless testimonies of individuals throughout North and Central America and beyond who report deep transformation in their lives, in their relationships, and in their communities. We have seen Faithwalkers take missional living to heart and get in action to care for the poor, marginalized, and outcast in their communities.
Before Faithwalking Foundations there were some areas in my life that I approached with fear and apprehension. The thing that has most impacted me about Faithwalking is the encouragement to practice authenticity.
I have developed an ability to be a better listener. I am better able to pay attention and ask questions, I am better able to differentiate myself in conversations and this has been really, really significant for me.
Life now feels less anxious. I am not striving for the admiration and affection of others as I once did. I now live with the knowledge that my value is firmly established in the reality of being one of God’s beloved children.
But we can’t take credit. We have a very small team, and we would have little impact without God’s grace, the generous support of our donors, the commitment of our volunteer network, and all of the Faithwalkers who continue to share how the tools they have learned through Faithwalking have made it possible for them to grow in their capacity to follow the way of Jesus.
In 2019 we have seen more than 350 participants complete our traditional curriculum, and 170 participants have started the new Faithwalking Foundations curriculum. We have 18 active Faithwalking Circles, and 12 Faithwalking Foundations modules are taking place right now.
We believe Faithwalking offers tools to make wholeness possible for individuals, communities, and the world. It is our goal to make Faithwalking accessible to every person in the world and for participants to become agents of wholeness in their own contexts.
Just as Faithwalkers like you have brought us to where we are today, we need your support to live into all of the amazing things God has before us. Your support will help us in two major ways:
It will give us the ability to continue offering courses and supporting local Faithwalking Circles throughout the year.
It will give us the capacity to commit more resources to training facilitators.
Our goal is to raise the funds needed to fulfill our purpose. We hope to raise $60,000 during our campaign to cover our budget in 2019.
Why is it important to train facilitators?
New facilitators mean we have increased capacity for impact. We expect each new facilitator to be able to lead 20 individuals through Faithwalking each year, on average. Our current goal is to have 32 certified Faithwalking facilitators actively taking people through our new curriculum, Faithwalking Foundations, by the end of 2022.
Rather than hosting a gala in Houston for this campaign, we wanted to find a way to include our entire community. So, over the next two weeks we will be sharing stories of the impact Faithwalking has had on individual lives and of how Faithwalking has empowered individuals and organizations to fulfill their God-given purpose. We’ll be transparent with what Faithwalking is and our vision for the work. And we’ll be sharing different resources and tools that may be useful in your spiritual formation.
